Obituary
Col. Regina C. Aune, USAF Ret., age 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in San Antonio. She was born on December 27, 1944 in Lakewood, Ohio, to parents, Rita Sinclair and James Pinion.

Colonel Regina C. Aune had a very impressive career in the Air Force. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree, and a Ph.D. She served as Chair of the Department of Nursing Research, Commandant of the Graduate School of Nursing and Deputy Brigade Commander at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USHUS). Regina commanded the 437th Medical Operations Squadron and the 437th Medical Group, Charleston AFB, the 377th Medical Group, Kirtland AFB, the 59th Medical Group, Lackland AFB, and the 386th Expeditionary Medical Group, Kuwait in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Regina was awarded the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Airman’s Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Service Star, Humanitarian Service Medal and The Cheney Award for 1975. She retired in 2007, after 28 years of service to our nation.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Rita Sinclair and James Pinion, and her husband, Bjorn Aune. Regina is survived by her daughters, Ellen Aune (Pache), Diana Taylor (Alton), Elizabeth Wolfe (Christopher) and Aryn Lockhart; grandchildren, Kirsten, Makayla, Anthone, Amiyah, Erykah, Julia, Jewell, Jaylah, and Jessa; great grandchildren, Espin and Nayeli; and brother, Bill Pinion (May); as well as sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary West (located near SeaWorld).
